Aleksandra Žvirblytė is a prominent figure in Lithuanian piano art – an internationally performing pianist, pedagogue, and organizer of cultural events. One of the most versatile artists of her country, she appears as a soloist, performs with orchestras, and presents a wide range of chamber music programmes. Alongside the classical repertoire, she develops projects that transcend stylistic boundaries, where music of different epochs meets jazz elements and improvisation, shaping a distinctive and recognizable artistic direction.

She has performed throughout Lithuania, the Baltic States, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Denmark, Sweden, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, Germany, Switzerland, the United States, South Korea, Israel, Kazakhstan, and other countries. As a soloist, she has appeared with the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra, as well as orchestras in Taiwan, Bulgaria, Ukraine, and other countries. During her concert career, she has collaborated with distinguished conductors including Saulius Sondeckis, Gintaras Rinkevičius, Juozas Domarkas, Robertas Šervenikas, Mindaugas Piečaitis, Pavel Berman, Oliver Weder, Christo Christov, Ching-Ming Lu, and others.

More than one hundred recordings of the pianist are preserved in the archives of Lithuanian National Radio and Television. Her discography includes solo works as well as projects reflecting the synthesis of classical and improvisational music in collaboration with saxophonist Petras Vyšniauskas.

Over the past decade, collaboration with saxophonist Petras Vyšniauskas has become a significant part of her artistic activity. In their creative dialogue, classical music meets improvisation, and each performance brings new, ever-evolving musical solutions. Projects such as Cosmic Čiurlionis, Mystical Čiurlionis, Čiurlionis Rex, Provocations, and European Fantasy represent the most distinctive examples of this artistic direction.

A remarkable phenomenon in her creative career is the project The Lithuanian Pianists’ Dynasty, active for more than two decades, bringing together three generations of pianists on one stage: Professor Veronika Vitaitė, Aleksandra Žvirblytė, and Paulius Andersson. Presented in concert halls in Lithuania and abroad, the project has become a vivid symbol of continuity in the Lithuanian piano tradition.

Aleksandra Žvirblytė graduated from the then Lithuanian State Conservatory (now the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, class of Professor Olga Šteinberg) and completed advanced studies at the Moscow P. Tchaikovsky Conservatory with internationally acclaimed pianists and pedagogues Lev Vlasenko, Mikhail Pletnev, and Mykola Suk. Her artistic development was further enriched through creative collaborations and professional consultations in Germany and Switzerland with prominent European pianists Bernard Ringeissen, Rudolf Buchbinder, and Karl-Heinz Kämmerling.

She is a laureate of the M. K. Čiurlionis International Piano Competition (Vilnius, Lithuania, 1989 and 1991), the YKAA (Young Keyboard Artists Association) International Piano Competition (Oberlin, USA, 1991), and in 1999 she was awarded the Grand Prix at the Nikolai Rubinstein International Piano Competition in Paris.

Aleksandra Žvirblytė is Professor at the Piano Department of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre and Expert Teacher at the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts. She regularly gives masterclasses in Denmark, Sweden, France, the United Kingdom, Spain, Poland, Costa Rica, Taiwan, China, and other countries.

She is frequently invited to serve on the juries of major international piano competitions in Europe and beyond, including Jeunesses Musicales Belgrade (Serbia), Nordic Piano Competition (Sweden), Résonances Musicales (France), and the Polish Music Competition in Rzeszów (Poland). She has also served as jury member and chairperson at competitions in France, Ukraine, Costa Rica, and other countries.

Aleksandra is one of the organizers of the international competition-festival Music without Limits and has long served as Chair of its jury, significantly contributing to the professional development of young pianists and the expansion of international artistic cooperation.

She has educated a number of distinguished pianists who have become laureates of international competitions. Her students actively perform as soloists and chamber musicians, teach at higher and specialized music institutions in Lithuania and abroad, and pursue international performing careers across Europe and other countries.

Aleksandra Žvirblytė is also the founder, artistic director, and director of the International M. K. Čiurlionis Music Festival. Since 2013, the festival has been held annually in Palanga and Vilnius, becoming an important international platform that brings together prominent Lithuanian and foreign performers, orchestras, and young talents. Through this activity, she significantly contributes to the international visibility of Lithuanian culture and the development of contemporary artistic directions.

For her concert, pedagogical, and cultural activities, she has been awarded the Honorary Badge of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania “Carry Your Light and Believe”, the Golden Cross of the President of the Republic of Poland, the Award of the Polish Minister of Culture for the promotion of Fryderyk Chopin’s heritage, and the Teacher of the Year Award from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania.
